Stylish railing as a home design feature
It can be challenging to dress your house in such a way that it exudes the character and personality that says, “This is my home”. Whether you’re building or refurbishing, consider accentuating or adding to the building’s natural lines much like Aunt Mabel does with her eyebrow pencil. Adding contrasting, but complimentary colours on fascia boards, gutters and downspouts all have a way of making the home more pleasing to the eye.
One of the most dynamic home dressing-up techniques is also very functional- railings on patios, verandas and balconies. Geoff Howard-Tripp of Margate Engineering says that galvanised or stainless steel railings can add a great deal of personality to the home, both inside and out. “Railings can give an ultra-modern look, especially in stainless steel, or we can design a classic tradional look, or something in-between,” he says.
Steel railings have the advantage of rugged dependability, and should last the lifetime of the building. By smartening up the appearance railings can add to the book value as well.
